I was approached by the recording artist Elizabeth, and her record label Our Golden Friend, to produce a design for the vinyl cover for her solo debut album The Wonderful Worldof Nature.
The design needed to utilize press shots previously taken of Elizabeth, and would go on to be expanded into a suite of print and digital assets. Most importantly, the aesthetic needed to express her persona; put well on her website, “Elizabeth is a glamorous tragic, queer pop anti-heroine.”
My goal in developing the design for the vinyl cover was to convey a mix of boldness, romance, youth, and wistfulness. This was achieved by using nuanced typefaces, striking colours, and evocative imagery. Once the vinyl design was completed, I developed myriad print & digital assets (posters, social media assets, music video titles, merchandise etc.) all utilizing, complementing, and evolving from the originalvisual concept.
The client-designer relationship has been an ideal one, and we’ve recently begun collaborating again on design assets for her newer resleases, including titles for her most recent music videos, which you can see on my website.
