As part of my work for RISING in 2024, I was asked to create a sub-brand identity for RISING’s festival-within-a-festival, Day Tripper. The brief was a deceptively tricky one; Day Tripper’s look needed to be both distinct from and identifiable with RISING’s, and it had to visually represent the plethora of genres and mediums of music, performance and experience that Day Tripper encompassed.
To create the final concept, I utilised RISING’s signature blue, combined it with black and white, and extensively manipulated RISING’s secondary typeface and original photography. The result was an identity that had a fluid, psychedelic spirit, combined with polish and restraint.
From the brand identity stemmed a horde of assets that were a blast to produce; animated web and social assets, street posters, wristbands, maps, schedules, merch, signage, and motion graphics for the event’s stage screen designs (these were the most fun!).
