Elizabeth

I was approached by the recording artist Elizabeth, and her record label Our Golden Friend, to produce a design for the vinyl cover for her debut album The Wonderful World of Nature. The design needed to utilize press shots previously taken of the musician, and would go on to be expanded into a suite of print and digital assets. Most importantly, the aesthetic needed to express her persona; put well on her website, “Elizabeth is a glamorous tragic, queer pop anti-heroine.”

My goal in developing the design for the vinyl cover was to convey a mix of boldness, romance, youth, and wistfulness. This was achieved by using nuanced typefaces, striking colours, and evocative imagery. Once the vinyl was completed, I developed myriad print & digital assets (posters, social media assets, music video titles, merchandise etc.) all utilizing, complementing, and evolving from the original vinyl concept.

The client-designer relationship has been an ideal one, and we've begun collaborating again on design assets for her new album. These include new merchandise, and titles on her most recent music videos.
